BIM: Building Information Modeling

Peikert Group Architects has been a leader in adopting the emerging technology of (BIM) Building Information Modeling. In contrast to standard Computer Aided Design (CAD) which basically functions as a two dimensional computer drafting board, BIM is a three dimensional representation of an entire construction project including, materials and specifications. Revisions to any aspect of the building model are instantly updated throughout the construction documents. The use of BIM produces an extremely well coordinated set of drawings. Conflicts such as a mechanical duct colliding with a structural beam can be automatically detected in the design phase thus preventing costly changes during construction. Overall, BIM technology results in improved quality control and superior construction documents both of which lead to significant cost savings for our clients.
